“Not in a million years,” Cole said, grinning like a bully.

“I’ll do your laundry for three months,” Rory said. He cringed, picturing what it would be like to have to touch the huge bear shifter’s dirty underwear.

“How about three decades?” Cole said, loving this.

Rory sighed. He was trying to get Cole to help him out by covering the reception desk for the day. It was the morning after the best day of Rory’s life and he really wanted Cole to cover for Candice so that they could enjoy another carefree day of falling in love.

Rory bit his bottom lip as he glanced back at the inn. She was still sleeping in after a sleepless night of lovemaking and he wanted to have the good news ready for her when she woke up.

“Come on,” Rory said, getting ready to beg. “I helped you when you were hooking up with Jennifer.”

“No, you didn’t,” he shot back with a laugh. “You guys were all trying to cockblock me because you all wanted her for Ashton.”

“I helped clean the kitchen when you two set it on fire,” Rory said.

“Not the same thing,” Cole said, shaking his head. “It’s my day off. I want to go fishing.”

“I’ll buy you all of the fish that you can eat at the grocery store,” Rory pleaded, almost ready to drop to his knees.

“That’s a start,” Cole said, crossing his arms over his chest. “What else are you going to buy me?”

Jennifer came walking over at the perfect time. “Good morning, Rory,” she said, looking extra chipper. She was carrying a bag of fresh produce into the inn.

“Let me grab that for you,” Rory said, grinning at Cole as he took the bag.

“Thank you,” she said, smiling as she walked alongside him. “It was fun getting to know Candice last night. It seems that you two are really hitting it off well.”

“It’s been pure magic,” he said, smiling to himself as Cole followed. “You know those first few dates when you’re falling in love and you can’t seem to focus on anything except for the other person?”

“I do,” she said, turning to look at Cole in a dreamy way. “That is pure magic.”

“It’s so hard,” Rory said, grimacing as he looked down at the ground. “I wanted to surprise her with a day full of fun but she has to work today.”

“Oh no,” Jennifer said, frowning. “I know how it feels to be separated in the beginning. It sucks.”

“Yeah,” Rory said, giving his best Oscar performance. “It hurts my heart to be away from her.”

“That’s too bad,” Cole said, grabbing the bag from his hands. “I guess you’ll have to see her after work.” He shot Rory a warning look that the wolf shifter ignored.

“I hope that my heart can take it,” he said, clutching his chest.

Rory hid his smile as a thought dawned on Jennifer. “Cole,” she said, pointing at her mate with a smile on her face. “It’s your day off today. Why don’t you cover for Candice so that Rory and her can go fall in love?”

Rory waved her away, shaking his head.
